The Shell xtra is a free xtra (http://staff.dasdeck.de/valentin/xtras/shell/) developed by Valentin Schmidt that can run commands in MacOSX and Windows.
On MacOSX the shell xtra can help you determine if your projector is running on an Intel mac. It can also tell if there is an active connection (http://director-online.com/buildArticle.php?id=1148) to the internet.
